The Story Behind GroupGoat
How this project came to life:
Learning Journey
GroupGoat began as a personal project to learn a new front-end framework called Svelte prior to using it at work.
Started in 2024
I've been tinkering with this project since early 2024, continuously improving it slowly in my spare time.
Passion Project
This is 100% a labor of love. I don't earn any money from GroupGoat - it's purely a passion project.
User Driven
What drives me is seeing people use and benefit from the tool - your usage is what keeps me excited!
My Professional Background
Strangely enough, I started as a Podiatrist many, many years ago.
After a career change, I now work as a programmer for a software company in the education space in Melbourne, Australia. I came across this as a target for a side project because its a complex programming problem to solve.
I'm aware it's already been solved several times by several other companies but I don't really care, I liked that it is quiet a complex problem to solve and thought it'd be fun to do anyway.
...And probably a better use of my time rather than getting stuck into another video game in my spare time!
